We are currently working from home but will transition to an office in West Austin by the end of summer and expect all employees to be in the office as much as possible.

What You Will Do

Residential Mortgage loan originators are responsible for managing referral sources, lead conversion and following up to nurse leads in all aspects of a purchase, Pre-Approval and loan product selection. The Loan Officer is the primary point of interaction for clients and realtors upfront.  They are responsible for spotting all potential issues, perfecting the loan file, and educating the clients.


  • Perform in-depth analysis of clients’ financial profiles to determine credit worthiness, optimize financing structures, and provide expert advice
  • Engage referral sources daily
  • Prospect and cultivate new client referrals daily
  • Educate clients regarding the homebuying process
  • Educate clients regarding mortgage refinancing opportunities
  • Act as a self-starter while leveraging cross-functional collaboration wherever appropriate
  • Employ a consultative approach in assessing clients’ needs and developing an understanding of the challenges
  • Communicate clearly and concisely when discussing lending practices and procedures with clients
  • Continuously study current market conditions and the lending regulatory environment, with a focus on educating yourself and team members
  • Nurture relationships with clients, referral sources, and team members
  • Monitor practices and systems to ensure compliance in a dynamic and complex regulatory environment
  • Assess and convey current market conditions to clients and referral sources
  • Diligently track data and maintain company referral database with real-time information
  • Contribute to the team environment by regularly evaluating the JBMG systems and processes to recommend improvements
  • Prepare for and engage in weekly small-group team meetings to assess issues and best practices within firm

Desired Skills & Experience 

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in loan originating
  • Experience with Encompass LOS a plus
  • Ability to learn and navigate proprietary CRM and LOS software
  • Capacity to learn and absorb a very large quantity of information quickly
  • Capacity to work in a demanding environment with long hours when required
  • Practice congeniality with both clients and team members
  • Exceptional diligence in all actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team-environment
  • Ability to maintain quality of work while working under pressure
  • Ability to process and healthily manage stress levels

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary + Commission and/or bonus based on performance and growth
